I am asking for prayers for my son. He comes up for parole on August 25th. He has been incarcerated since January of 2016 for a non-violent drug offense. I’ve learned so much about the prison system since this became part of our lives. The most important being that this environment in no way rehabilitates a person to return to society. I don’t say that to be negative or point fingers. It is just truly a very broken system. He has a drug addiction, yet has more drugs at his fingertips than he ever had available when he was not in prison. He has been extorted (as have we) for money for his safety. He has been the victim of repeated violent attacks. When I’ve seen prison shows, I thought it was “made for TV” dramatic effect. Let me tell you, it’s not. The reality is ten times worse than what you see on TV. I’m praying for his release but trusting God’s ultimate plan because I know His plans are far better than anything I can come up with. I’m praying for complete healing from his drug addiction. He is self-motivated & making strides. I am praying that he draws nearer to God and that he uses his story to Glorify God and lead others to know Christ. Would you please pray for him/us.
