My boyfriend and I have been together for almost two years. We have had our arguments and frustrations, our disagreements, and our struggles as do any couple. We have faced addictions to drugs, such as marijuana, and heroin. We have both gone through abusive situations. My boyfriend was physically abused his entire life by a family member until he turned 16 and moved out. I had a family member come into my bedroom when I was 11. I also was sexually assaulted a few years ago. We have dealt with physical, emotional, and mental abuse from previous relationships that made us feel inferior and not valued. We both struggle with people-pleasing. We both have low self-images that we are doing our best with God’s help to overcome. We have both struggled with OCD and perfectionism.
I am opening up about this now outside of us as a couple because I know if I ask we will receive. I am asking for healing for both of us. For God to take what the enemy meant for evil and turn it for good. I am asking for the chains of bondage to be broken and our eyes to be open to God’s Love. I am asking for a hedge of protection over our minds. Thank you for your prayers.
