I recently went to an ophthalmologist for an intensive eye exam, because of a medication I am on for arthritis that can cause eye damage. During the exam, she told me I had a genetic disorder called CHRPE. She said people with this disorder are prone to cancerous colon polyps of all things. She encouraged me to stay current on colonoscopies. Because I’m only in my 50’s I’m not due one for another 5 years. At her insistence, I went ahead and had another one scheduled, and am so thankful I did. They found colon cancer! The colon doctor told me if I had waited another 5 years, it would have been too late. I’m having surgery on June 21st. Please pray that they get it all and that it is not in the lymph nodes. It doesn’t appear to have spread to the other organs on the CT. Who would have ever thought God may have used my eye doctor to save my life!!
